The Commonwealth Coalition for Alzheimer�s Advocacy (CCAA) represents a unified voice in advocating for increased community awareness and change in law and public policy to respond to the needs of Alzheimer�s patients and their families. CCAA is composed of the Public Policy Committees, membership and concerned citizen volunteers of the eight Alzheimer�s Association Chapters throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Chapters provide services to approximately 88,000 to 100,000 Virginians and their families who suffer the personal and financial devastation inflicted by Alzheimer�s disease. The 1997 Legislative Platform (presented to the Virginia General Assembly during its January and February session) addressed our constituents� highest priorities and demonstrated the need for legislative support and awareness to make sound public policy decisions focusing on four issues:
CCAA worked to enact into law the four policy objectives described in the Legislative Platform and monitored other legislation affecting Alzheimer�s patients and their families including: Medicaid, Managed Care, and Adult Care Residence Regulation. CCAA endorsed other legislation affecting Alzheimer�s patients and their families including:
CCAA invites your support for the 1998 Legislative Platform, which will be announced in the autumn of 1997, and the related legislation CCAA endorses to better serve Alzheimer�s disease patients and their families across Virginia.
