As a health care professional, people with Alzheimer's disease or a related memory disorder and their families and friends rely on you. In turn, you can rely on the Alzheimer's Association, National Capital Area to help you provide even better care. For strategies to help you care for Alzheimer's patients, read our Caregiving Tip sheets. The National Capital Area Chapter also offers training sessions and conferences for professionals to better understand dementia patients and improve quality of care. Our library contains a wealth of resources for professionals and families and is open to the public, Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Chapter provides many services that you may wish to recommend to Alzheimer's patients and their families. Our Helpline provides personalized advice to patients and families over the phone. The Safe Return program helps reconnect wandering dementia patients with their caregivers. We also have assembled a list of support groups for both patients and caregivers to connect with those who understand, and caregiver essays to spotlight real-life experiences of caregivers. For more information about Alzheimer's disease, see the information in our About Alzheimer's section.
