The Chapter delivers (on a fee basis) a 12-hour basic dementia care training program to long term care providers. Entitled Person Centered Care: Skill Building for Caregivers of People with Dementia, the training includes current information on research regarding the causes and progression of dementia, the care needs of people who are affected, available treatments, environmental issues, behavioral management, and state-of-the-art caregiver interventions. Intended for a multidisciplinary audience, this basic training is recommended for all levels of staff in long term care settings, including nurses, Certified Nurse Assistants, social workers, administrators, activities professionals, home health aides, maintenance and food service staff, and physical, speech and occupational therapists.
$60/per person (for the full 12 hours of training) Arrangements can be made to bring this essential training to long term care settings. A minimum of 20 persons per session is required. A maximum of 30 persons will be trained in any one session. Two or more organizations may jointly host the training.
