Accounts of breakthrough research in Alzheimer's are published almost weekly. Much of the promising research is exciting, yet the complex and diverse lines of research can be confusing to persons making decisions about appropriate preventive measures, caregiving strategies and treatments for loved ones with dementia. Attend this forum to learn about current biomedical, behavioral, psychosocial and environmental research underway.
Particular attention will be given to complementary and alternative therapies, such as massage, aroma, light, vitamins and herbs, being touted as having positive effects on behavior, cognition and overall wellbeing of persons with dementing illnesses.

How do you distinguish between the normal changes associated with aging and those that may represent a dementia? This forum will look at normal changes in memory with aging, and at abnormal changes in memory associated with disease, such as Alzheimer's and vascular (Multi Infarct) dementia. Practical ways to improve memory also will be discussed.
